Join the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits + Arizona Grantmakers Forum and the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits to hear from advocate, activist, writer and grantmaker Will Cordery for the 7th Annual Transform Arizona presented by Northern Trust.

This year's luncheon will be in person and features an in-depth conversation between Will Cordery and Kim Covington, Arizona Community Foundation's vice president of community initiatives, about how Arizona philanthropy can better serve the needs of Black, Indigenous and people of color through advancing equitable grantmaking and acknowledging the need for racial justice and systemic change in philanthropy.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Alliance + Arizona Grantmakers Forum strives to ensure this luncheon is accessible to all nonprofit professionals who wish to attend. We can provide full scholarships to attend the event for free, courtesy of our generous partners. Scholarships are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Organizations could receive a scholarship for a maximum of two attendees. Complete this short application to be considered.

Registration Policies

Registrants who are unable to attend the luncheon may substitute someone to attend in their place; please submit the change via email to Lilly Gonzalez. Cancellations received by November 10 will receive a full refund. No refunds will be provided after November 11.

Your health and safety: As you know too well, the COVID-19 situation remains fluid. We decided earlier, using information available at the time, to conduct this year’s Transform Arizona in person - and we’re still working to make that happen. Nonetheless, we’re also monitoring the situation carefully. We’ll announce as soon as possible when facts become clearer, what public health safeguards will be required to attend, or whether we’ll shift to a completely virtual event. The Alliance + Arizona Grantmakers Forum has secured a hotel block at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix Tempe. Rooms must be booked by Tuesday, November 8. Will Cordery is an Advisor and Consultant with Leverage Philanthropic Partners and leads Freedom Futures, a donor advisory firm dedicated to moving money to the frontlines of liberation for Black, Indigenous and people of color communities. He has held several roles in the field of philanthropy - from working at large national private grantmaking institutions to managing fundraising efforts for large, international nonprofit organizations. Over his career, Will has developed and implemented multi-million dollar grantmaking and fundraising portfolios aimed at advancing racial justice and economic justice.

Will received his B.S.B.A. in Business Finance from Xavier University and his M.P.A. from New York University. He formerly worked with Marguerite Casey Foundation, Surdna Foundation, and Wellspring Philanthropic Fund. His philanthropic board leadership includes Hill-Snowdon Foundation, Tides Advocacy, the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, Greater New Orleans Funders Network, Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing, and Grantmakers for Southern Progress. Additionally, Will is a 2021 Advisor for the Global Engagement Lab at the EDGE Funders Alliance, and is an alum of the Association of Black Foundation Executives' Connecting Leaders Fellowship.

Kim Covington is the Vice President of Community Initiatives at the Arizona Community Foundation. Covington works to amplify ACF’s presence in diverse communities across the state by creating innovative and community collaborations with existing and new partners. From leading the Philanthropy for All Initiative, or convening the community to have conversations about social justice issues in the Courage to Listen, Learn and Act, Covington and ACF believe there is power in partnerships, shared passion and pooled resources.

Covington retired from TV news after 30 years in the industry. Along with her time at KPNX 12 News as a News Anchor and School Solutions Reporter, her career spans from Springfield, Missouri and Grand Rapids, Michigan to her hometown St. Louis, Missouri. She is the recipient of several awards including four Emmy Awards for excellence in reporting, several Associated Press awards, the 2020 Town of Paradise Valley Martin Luther King Diversity Award and was recently nominated for the 2020 ATHENA Award, an internationally prized honor which recognizes women who demonstrate excellence in professional leadership, community service, and mentorship of future leaders.
